Listen to Coleman Barks when he reads the mystical in-the-moment fire of the ancient Sufi mystic Rumi's poetry. He is the author of numerous translations of Rumi and has been a student of Sufism since 1977. "There's a practice known as Sama, a deep listening to poetry and music, with sometimes movement involved. We could experiment with whole nights of that, staying up until dawn, sleeping in tents during the day. Rumi teaches that the cure for society is individual. As an individual soul begins to revive, something like a fragrance comes that makes you sweet again, fresh and wild, and thankful for every small event."

a greeting from the secret ones inside
the heart, a letter. The branches of
your intelligence grow new leaves in
the wind of this listening. The body
